Position: Deputy Director

 

Organization:

ACCE Institute is a highly effective social justice organization focused on grassroots organizing and issue campaigning that tackles structural systems of oppression especially wealth inequality and racism, and increasingly sexism and patriarchy. Through leadership development, political education, civic engagement strategies, and strategic relationships, ACCE works to build individual and collective social and political power for members of low income/working class communities and communities of color.

 

ACCE Institute is a statewide community organization working with over 15,000 community members in six counties across California and has a track record of winning shifts in operating practices though direct corporate campaigns and passing policy solutions through legislative fights.

 

Location:

Preferably this position will be filled in Sacramento however there is an openness for the right person to work out of any of ACCE’s local offices (Sacramento, Richmond, Oakland, Los Angeles, or San Diego)

 


The Position:

The role of Deputy Director is to support the Executive Director and organizational management team in developing and implementing the long-term vision of the organization as well as taking on critical pieces of the day to day operations including, staff management, fundraising, external relationships, and carrying out discrete projects. The Deputy Director is a critical position within the organization and requires someone with a strong ability to be a big picture thinker as well as a detailed implementer.

Key Qualifications –

  • Significant responsibility in large scale campaigns (city level or larger), including a demonstrated understanding of high level context and power analysis, ability to develop strategic plans, subsequent implementation, and ongoing evaluation.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a management position in an organizing institution (community or labor)
  • Experience in creating, raising, and managing a budget
  • Experience working in and running/managing broad coalitions
  • Strong computer competency especially with word, excel, g-suite, and data management systems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work individually as well as collaboratively and apply restorative centered problem solving skills to resolve conflicts
  • Comfort working in a fast paced and responsive environment
  • A minimum of a two year commitment is required

Key Duties and Responsibilities –

  • Implementing and managing strategic programs and projects identified by the Executive Director.
  • Could include issue campaigning, political campaigning, staff development, fundraising tasks, etc.
  • Staff supervision with an emphasis on collaborative work plan creation and accountability coaching.
  • Representing ACCE in statewide and national coalitions.
  • Assisting in fundraising and budget management.


Wages and Benefits:

ACCE Institute utilizes a progressive salary scale that determines pay based on level of responsibility and years of experience. Salary is non-negotiable but does include annual COLA increases as well as annual anniversary increases. The Salary Range for this position starts at $67,878 and can be as high as $96,385 based on experience. ACCE has a generous benefits package that includes fully covered health care, dental, and life insurance, as well as a 401K employer match and a minimum of 3 weeks’ accruable PTO in year one.
