Do you believe there’s power in numbers? So do we!
Unfortunately, the presidential election didn't turn out the way most of us would have hoped. But that's why the work we do to empower communities, especially communities of color, is that much more important. There are a lot of people in San Diego and across the country who are looking for alternatives to what a Donald Trump presidency represents and we want to make sure that we can harness that energy and turn it into something positive.
More than ever we need to build strength and unity. Come celebrate and strategize with us, Thursday, December 8th from 6-9pm. We are going to have tamales, pozole, dancing along to music from Kimba Light and drinks for a night of solidarity and fun. Register below to join us!
We have done a lot of amazing work with ACCE leaders over the last year, be we want and NEED to do more!
From attending rallies to stand up for women, town hall meetings and civic engagement earning us 5 sick days and raising the minimum wage in the city of San Diego, ACCE leaders have been fighting to improve our neighborhoods. As part of the Invest in San Diego Families Coalition, we built a base of residents to engage and demand changes from the County Board of Supervisors. And that’s just the beginning, San Diego ACCE leaders canvassed to inform and provide legal assistance to our immigrant communities and advocated for the expansion of DACA and implementation of DAPA. Reinvestment in our cities is happening- this year alone we won several infrastructure asks in the neighborhoods our leaders are most active in- like lights at Connelly Park, street sweeping services and traffic signals. In the housing front, we won stronger code enforcement to prevent landlords from retaliating against tenants in the City of Chula Vista.
